but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ISAIAH 40: 31
但那等候耶和華的,必從新得力。他們必如鷹展翅上騰,他們奔跑卻不困倦,行走卻不疲乏。以賽亞書四十章三十一節
Jonathan Edwards (1704 – 58) was born in Connecticut, son of a Pastor. He graduated in theology at the top of his class at Yale, and. went on to teach theology, following a vocation as a Congregationalist pastor. While serving as a missionary to the Housatonic Indians, Edwards become an eminent theologian; subsequently elected President of Princeton. Died of smallpox in 1758.
Yes, Jon Edwards was a very bright theologian that had brough the great awakening.
There were many spiritual manifestations in his meetings - a work of God and the Holy Spirit. His wife was know to have been constantly shaking under the power of the Holy Spirit.
Some will still criticise him because they have not seen or expereinced such things before. One of his sons was born on sunday. A taboo for a minister in those days as the people in those days believe the day baby born corresponds to the day of the sexual act and presume that he was not devoted to God on sunday. (people will always be ignorant)
He was such a passionate man that he preached many sermons in a week. I remember reading that he preaches about 20 sermon - even during his honey moon when he just got married.
