I truly wish we can stop using double standard in "juding" people but to choose to see them from God's eyes. This is something I have to keep learning.
====================================================================================================
God has made every individual differently and that's why there are different "strength and weakness" aspects in the walk with God. Some likes songs, some like talking to different people, some like Bible reading, some like the worship session, some like the sermon, some like debate, some like sharing, some like thinking and observing. Therefore I thought this is a place that allow all kinds of people to have fellowship, whereby sharing, discussing, joking, etc. And that is why we have different topics. Some are "light" hearted and some are "heavy"(?) Some have answers some do not; some are interesting to some people while some are not. However, this DID allow people who have different interests, different opinions and understanding to discuss freely. (Also allow those who are not interested in forum to stay silent?) And this is why under certain topics, there will be different groups of people posting. By allowing the variety, different members are allowed to grow in different ways.
Who will say Paul's arguments are not edifying and faith-building but proud and too intellectual? Who will ask Calvin, Edwards, Martin Luther, Wright etc not to debate or write down their understanding even though they may not agree with each other? It is out of these processes where we now can distinguish the differences b/w Christianity and Jewism, Christianity and other "cults". Not trying to exalt arguments themselves but God DID allow them to exist and DID choose to use them. By saying this, I have no intention to compare our arguments with those giants but to point out the different paths God has given to different people to grow and get close to Him. And no one but God to judge and examine the intention behind each line. What we can do is to ask God to examine ourselves and take away anything that's not pleasing HIM, but not people.
Therefore, if these "heavy hearted" discussions are out of truth-seeking and sharing of different understanding, why can't they be faith-building? And how are we going to claim that the light hearted discussion are edifying?
In addition, many of the discussions are not after a certain standard answer but a different perspective from a variety of people. That is to say, those who do not want to write can always talk; those who do not want to talk can always write; those who want to answer can always join; those who do not have time for long discussion can always be not obligated to explain. Maybe we are not good enough to answer every single questions properly. But does addressing the questions have no value at all?
The above opinions are not trying to attack any single thought or authority, but just simply expressing my point of views. Having different opinions does not mean I don't respect or love the leaders. It is out of love that I'd like to be honest with all of you rather than simply say sth you'd like to listen. I understand that I did not join many discussions but i do cherish the freedom to choose when and what to talk. If the hosts have decided that only light hearted issues are to be addressed and only certain views or "stands" are to be allowed in this forum, I'll follow the decision. Please forgive my bad ability in expressing my views in English.(so if any of the words are not apropriate, pls let me know since this is just the words I could find atm...><)
